Why Geico Trucking Insurance Could Be the Right Choice for Your Business

If you’re in the trucking industry, you know that insurance is essential to protect both your business and livelihood on the road. With options ranging from liability coverage to cargo insurance, Geico has become a go-to insurer for truckers and small fleet owners across the country. Here’s why Geico’s trucking insurance could be an ideal fit for your needs.

Comprehensive Coverage Options

Geico’s trucking insurance offers a wide range of coverage options tailored to meet the specific needs of commercial trucking businesses. Whether you’re an owner-operator or manage a small fleet, Geico provides essential coverages like:

  • Primary Liability Insurance: Required for all commercial trucks, this coverage protects you if your truck is involved in an accident and found to be at fault, covering damages to other vehicles or injuries to other drivers.
  • Physical Damage Coverage: This includes collision and comprehensive insurance, safeguarding your vehicle against damage from accidents, theft, and other unexpected events.
  • Motor Truck Cargo Insurance: For truckers hauling valuable cargo, this insurance protects your load in case of theft, fire, or other types of damage during transit.
  • Non-Trucking Liability Insurance: Ideal for owner-operators, this coverage applies when you’re driving the truck for personal use, such as after dropping off a load.

Geico’s range of coverage options ensures that truck drivers can find policies that align with their specific operational needs, whether they’re hauling cross-country or focusing on local deliveries.

How Does Geico Compare to Competitors?

Geico is very similar to a couple of trucking insurance companies, such as, BHHC, Progressive, Cover Whale, and Canal. Below I am going to list in order, who I personally believe is the best and why.

  1. Canal

    • Pros– Canal offer pay per miles options, can be competitive as you grow your fleet, and is highly respected.
    • Cons– Canal has a growth limit for your first 3 years and only works through brokerage. So, getting a quote, can take a couple of days.
  2. Geico

    • Pros– Geico is accepted by all brokers, they can be very competitive on new venture, and they don’t blink an eye at adding trucks quickly.
    • Cons– Only allow up to 9 trucks on your policy and they are still figuring out pricing on some states, so they may come in high, depending on where you live.
  3. BHHC

    • Pros– BHHC will insure dang near any cargo you are hauling, offer a very compete policy, and can be very comptitive on towing, dump trucks, HHG movers, etc.
    • Cons– BHHC is very going to be the cheapest for truckers about 5% of the time and their system is very slow, so getting COIs will take some extra time.
  4. Progressive

    • Pros- Progressive is number 1 for a reason, they are the cheapest most of the time with new ventures and everything from getting a quote to getting a COI is quick.
    • Cons- Progressive is not accepted by all brokers, because of claims, so obviously claims are not always the best. I have had many claims go smoothly with Progressive, but in rare incidences.
  5. Cover Whale

    1. Pros– Cover Whale can be very competitive in the tough to insure states or a trucking company dealing with something out of the ordinary, such as rapid growth.
    2. Cons– They are known to cancel policies right after putting them in place and customer service for the agent is very slow.

Competitive Pricing and Discount Options

Geico is known for its competitive rates in commercial auto insurance, and its trucking insurance options are no different.
